We usually have mates in different areas our lives. We have work mates, hobby mates, house mates, best mates, and even old mates. What about a mate for talking?

Starting therapy might feel more manageable if we view it as catching up with our Talking Mate. Someone who can relate to your experiences as a man while bringing their professional skills to the conversation.

As men, we often avoid talking about our problems, or ask for help. When we do talk, we can feel misunderstood, judged, or muted. Talking Mate is about understanding who you are and where you are in your life, and finding ways to change the things that need to be sorted.

It might be that you feel sad and irritated most of the time. Or that your relationships are falling apart. It could be that you struggle with work stress, a new role, or have anxiety around moving to a new city or country. There might be anger, frustration, or feeling like you are falling behind everyone else. It could be that you entered middle age and questioning your worth, meaning, and purpose in life.

Maybe your sex life isn't what it used to be. Or there is shame and guilt around some of your drinking behaviour over weekends. You might be questioning your value as a dad, a husband, a partner, or a friend. Sometimes every day problems grow bigger making it harder to stay afloat.

It might be helpful to see a Talking Mate for help.
